Easter Egg Wreath Tutorial

This fun Easter Egg wreath was so much fun to make with my daughter.  She LOVED hot gluing all the eggs.   I even let go of my OCDness for a minute and didn't care so much where each egg went.

I have had all of the supplies for this wreath for a couple of weeks but finally had time to sit down and help my daughter make it.

HOW TO MAKE THE EASTER EGG WREATH:
Find a piece of cardboard that is flat and then find something that is round (or whatever shape you are wanting) and trace out the shape.
(keep in mind my daughter was taking the pictures :)
Here is our cardboard circle all cut out
Now take your hot glue gun and glue the eggs randomly onto the wreath.  I used 2 packages of 42 eggs to make our wreath.  The wreath measures about 16 inches wide.
Here is our wreath all glued together
Then we tied a nice little bow with grosgrain ribbon onto the wreath.

Beautiful Eh?
Thanks for looking!

Fruit Filled Crepes Recipe

I don't know about you, but my family LOVES to eat crepes.  This my friends is seriously the Easiest, and the best recipe EVER! Their absolute favorite way to eat them is filled with whatever fruit we have on hand. Today it just happened to be strawberry's, pomegranates, and mango's.  Of course we have to top it all off with some whipping cream!

Butter Cream Frosting

Remember my daughters cake from the other day.  Here is the recipe for the butter cream frosting.

Buttercream Frosting Recipe for Birthday Cake

I frosted underneath all the fondant and all the decoration on the castle with butter cream frosting.  It was really easy to make.

Butter Cream Frosting
1/2 c shortening
1 drop butter flavoring
1 tsp vanilla
1 lb powdered sugar
1/4 c water

Mix the shortening, butter flavoring, and vanilla together with mixer of your choice (large batches-Bosch mixer all the way, small batches hand mixer for sure!).  Then slowly add the powdered sugar and water until you get the consistency of whipped butter and whipping cream together.   It will be nice and fluffy.  You can add coloring to it as desired.

Wilton Princess Castle-Pink and Green with Fondant Girls Birthday Cake

Wilton Princess Cake set for my Daughters Birthday

Wilton Princess Cake set for my Daughters Birthday
Yippee!  It only took me 2 afternoons to complete this small work of art.

pink and green princess castle cake
They plastic towers and window and doors that you put onto your cake.  I used my Styrofoam cakes to make it.

I covered the cake in fondant and then used buttercream frosting to frost the rest.

I put food coloring in a bag full of sugar and colored it pink for the cones on the towers.  Then I frosted the cones and rolled them in the sugar.

This cake was a ton of fun to make.  It was pretty funny to see everyone's relief that we wouldn't be eating the cake.  Instead we had angel food cupcakes with fresh strawberries and whipping cream.  The kids got some fun confetti lollipop cookies.

Crockpot Lasagna

Image borrowed from HERE

I love lasagna, but I hate how long it takes to make it.

Lasagna
1 pound ground hamburger browned
1 15 oz can of tomato sauce
1 package spaghetti seasoning
1 medium onion chopped
4 cloves garlic diced
2 cups spinach diced
15 oz ricotta cheese
2 cups water
lasagna noodles (not cooked)
1 cup mozzarella grated
1/4 c Parmesan cheese grated

Combine the hamburger, tomato sauce, spaghetti seasoning, onion, garlic, and water.  In another bowl combine the mozzarella (except for some left out to sprinkle on the top of the lasagna), spinach, ricotta cheese, and parmesan cheese.  Then layer 1/3 of the hamburger, lasagna noodles (break them if you need to), then the ricotta cheese into a 5 quart crockpot.  Repeat 2 more times and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.  Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.

Yummy Banana Bread

I love banana bread.  I don't make it very often because I can't keep bananas around long enough.
Here is the recipe:

Banana Bread
3/4 c shortening
1 1/2 c sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c chopped walnuts (If desired)
4-8 mashed bananas
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3 c flour

Mix the first 3 ingredients together.  Then add the bananas.  Mix well.  Then add remaining ingredients.  Makes 2 loaves

Rag Diaper Bag from Amber

Isn't this purse just adorable.  Amber made it using THIS rag diaper bag purse pattern.

This is part of what she said:
"Here is the purse I made from your pattern. It was really fun to make.  My husband actually helped a lot too. It was really fun! We are excited about our little Lillie coming soon!!!  We have decorated her room with ladybugs! This is my first baby and I am sure I will be making a lot more fun things for her. I don't really sew so me making this purse was a BIG deal. LOL! My next project is going to be to make her roman blind curtains for her room using red gingham. Any suggestions??? :) Thanks again for the great pattern!"

So do any of you have any suggestions for her?
I have made 1 roman blind with my moms help.  It was really easy.  My suggestion is to make sure to get a really sturdy bracket.

Anyone else?
