Wooden Electrical Spool Table Turned into a Bedside Nightstand

When we first built our home, I was on a budget and looking for inexpensive ways to decorate our home.  I was able to do that by perusing craigslist and other resources.  It was awesome.  Its been a few years (4 years ago....where has the time gone?!) and I have since changed my mind on a couple things.

I had grand plans for our spare bedroom to be decorated in the pallet-reclaimed wood-rustic look.  I had access to lots of pallets, and I found this awesome electrical spool in my parents junk pile on the farm.  As soon as I saw it, I knew it would work perfectly for a nightstand for that room.

I did get the tables cut out and we used them for a couple years, but just never got around to finishing the room up.

I even shared in on my instagram account as one of my very first posts....Isn't my little sister a cutie?!

Cutting a Wooden Electrical Spool in Half for a Bedside Table Furniture
Needless to say, I never had a chance to get the spare bedroom finished.  I have always had other projects more important than the bedroom.  You know how that goes.  Right?!  Please tell me I am not the only one with lots of plans and good intentions, but sometimes those plans just don't make it past the planning stage!

When my mom, last fall, told us they were building a cabin and she wanted to use as many reclaimed wood pieces as possible throughout the cabin, I knew exactly where those tables were going!

The wall in this bedroom is reclaimed wood from their privacy gate at their home.  They replaced the wood with metal and used on this wall instead.  The room isn't quite finished yet.  My mom found a huge old metal window that we are going to be knocking out the glass in and turning it into the headboard.

The glass for the top we bought at our local glass shop.  We took in the measurements and they had a piece cut to size for us.  My husband thinks it needs it....me not so much.

So I need to know...Have you ever made a project with wooden electrical spool?  If you have I would love for you to leave a comment (and a link if you have it) of what you did with the spool.

Never seen then cut out. A little story here, back in the 70`s that was the in tables to do. We got those very easily because at that time we were working for a communications company that used a lots of cables, so we had then in every size. That was a clever idea for a side table. Thanks
